Quentin Dunne, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
I am a licensed marriage and family therapist and a licensed professional clinical counselor with over 15 years of experience. I hold a Master's degree in Psychology from California Polytechnic State University. I am committed to practicing a compassionate and collaborative form of psychotherapy that recognizes and affirms a client's innate strengths while guiding the client toward greater healing and wholeness. My areas of clinical focus include helping people with depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), grief and pet loss, and parenting. My approach I am formally trained and certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) through the Academy of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies and have also received intensive, specialized training in helping people with OCD. I am also trained in and comfortable with psychodynamic and existential/humanistic modalities of therapy. Ultimately, my approach is to invite the client to become a proactive partner (rather than a passive recipient) in the therapeutic process by soliciting feedback on the effectiveness of my clinical approach and, if necessary, making adjustments to best suit the client's needs. My focus I most often work with clients between the ages of 12 and 60, though I occasionally see people a bit younger or older on either side of those years. I enjoy working with creative artists, parents seeking more effective ways to raise their children, people who have recently experienced grief and loss, and those seeking a deeper sense of meaning and purpose in life. I volunteered with the Soldiers Project for several years, providing free services to post-9/11 veterans and their families, so I am also quite comfortable treating those with military experience. My communication style No matter the particular issue with which a client needs help, the client should always feel safe with and respected by the therapist, so I prioritize communicating in a warm, gentle, and compassionate manner.
