Getting to know Rachel Kane-Cooley

Hi there. My name is Rachel Kane-Cooley, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. I earned my Master's in Counseling from John F. Kennedy University. My approach to therapy is holistic-biological, psychological, social, and spiritual. I specialize in Perinatal Mental Health and Anxiety. I most commonly utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client-centered, Psychodynamic, and Mindfulness approaches in my practice. Most of my clients are individual women struggling with emotional issues related to family planning, pregnancy, birth, and parenting. I also work with teens and adults dealing with relationship issues, life transitions, grief, insomnia, anxiety, depression, assertiveness, self-esteem, codependency, panic, and phobias. My clients are amazing. I deeply care for and believe in each and every one of them. I have been told that I bring a welcoming and calming tone to sessions. Clients typically feel heard and valued when they work with me. Emotional safety is my highest priority in therapy. Anxiety brought me to therapy, and therapy led me to become a therapist. I love connecting with and supporting others on their therapeutic journey. I consider this work a delight and a privilege. Over the years, I have met so many wonderful people looking to heal, grow, and evolve. It's a beautiful process, and I feel blessed to be a part of it. I collaborate with clients on defining and prioritizing therapy goals. I invite them to bring up whatever they need in each session. This is their sacred time and space to work on what they need most. On occasion, the focus of therapy can get off track. When this happens, I either gently nudge clients back to the predetermined goals or adjust the treatment plan as needed. The first session will entail a phone intake where I will answer questions and gather more information about symptoms, history, resources, goals, and more.
