Rachelle McKoy, LCMHC

Psychotherapist
NC
Hi there, I'm Rachelle! I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the state of NC. I have been practicing here since June of 2006 and have held many roles throughout my counseling career. I earned both my Bachelor's and Master’s degrees in Counseling from Gardner-Webb University. I am a firm believer that a counselor is someone who can hold space for others and help them find the answers they already know but just need support in reaching. My approach My favorite quote, one I have had on the walls of the offices I’ve practiced in over the years, is from *Alice in Wonderland*: "When you can't look on the bright side, I will sit with you in the dark." At the core, that is what I believe therapy is—helping people move toward healing and wholeness, but sometimes that means simply holding space, showing up, and sitting with someone in their pain. I consider it an honor to be allowed to show up for people in that way. I am thoroughly trained in various theoretical approaches such as CBT/DBT, Solution-Focused, Motivational Interviewing, TF-CBT, and other trauma-informed methods. My focus Throughout my 20-year career, I have worked with children, teenagers, young/middle-aged and elderly adults, families, and couples. I have a heart for teenagers, young adults/women, and especially single mothers. I am comfortable treating a wide range of issues—from Depression, Anxiety, and Life or Relational Stressors to Bipolar Disorder, PTSD/Trauma, Neurodivergent Symptoms, and everything in between. My communication style I am energetic, passionate, a deep feeler, and love to laugh. I believe my client is the most important person in the room (or on the screen), and I wholeheartedly believe that clients already possess everything they need to move forward—they just need someone unafraid to walk that journey with them. I am not afraid to ask hard questions and am upfront and blunt, but always genuine and kind.
