Psychotherapist
NC
Hi there, I'm Rebecca! Hello! I am Rebecca Fugate, an Adult Mental Health Counselor licensed in NC (Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor) with over 22 years of experience. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Counseling from The Citadel. I have worked with clients facing anxiety, depression, Bipolar and Mood Disorders, life transitions, grief and loss, codependency, and relationship issues. I approach counseling from a person-centered/humanistic perspective, believing that clients are the experts in their own lives. My approach I use several counseling approaches, including Relational-Cultural therapy (which explores relationships and how past experiences affect present connections), psychodynamic/insight-oriented methods, compassion-focused techniques, and cognitive behavioral strategies for symptom management such as mindfulness, self-talk, self-compassion, and relaxation. My focus Many clients I work with are navigating significant challenges and may experience both anxiety and depressive symptoms. They often face major life transitions like ending relationships, coping with the death or illness of a loved one, divorce, caregiving, starting college or a career, parenthood, moving, or ongoing painful family or relationship issues. My communication style I am warm, validating, empathic, and respectful with clients. I also provide honest feedback and gentle challenges to support growth. My journey to mental healthcare In my twenties, I received counseling during a time when I was dealing with multiple struggles involving relationships, family, and other challenges. Through this experience, I learned how vital it is to feel “seen” and have a safe space to process thoughts and feelings. Helping others through this process brings me great fulfillment and is what motivates me in this work. My goals for you Together, we will collaborate to identify and work toward the goals you wish to accomplish in counseling.
