Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Richa! No matter what your history or your pain is, I believe the first step to healing is a trusting therapeutic relationship. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist and I work with teens, and adults experiencing issues such as anxiety, depression, grief and loss, family dynamics, occupational problems, acculturation stress, and life transitions. My focus Over the years, I have supported many teens and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, loss, and issues related to identity and oppression. Many of my clients have experienced attachment wounds that impact their sense of self, and contribute to them seeing themselves as not good enough or unlovable. My approach I operate from a person-centered lens, which essentially means that I believe in my clients’ ability to grow and heal. My role is not to be the expert in their lives, but to support them in connecting to their authentic selves. I draw from ACT, Polyvagal Therapy, DBT, and CBT while incorporating mindfulness-based interventions. My communication style It is very important to me that the therapeutic relationship helps my clients begin to feel safe, understood, accepted for who they are, and cared for. I am authentic, warm, and collaborative with my clients. Together, we identify treatment goals and develop an approach that feels supportive, manageable, as well as empowering. My journey to mental healthcare I grew up in an environment where I saw stigma, oppression, and the resulting culture of secrecy up close. I saw how it impacted people’s sense of self and their emotional and mental well-being. I sought therapy for the first time after moving to the US, and realized I wanted to help people feel seen, heard, and accepted without fear of judgment. My goals for you I strive to create a safe space where clients feel comfortable sharing their painful emotional experiences, which helps them feel seen and heard.
