“Has been a tremendous help in developing healthier habits and even more so developing a better feeling of what I actually need to feel responsible for solving in my life and feel guilty for, and what is simply other people making bad choices that although I can try to influence, I in the end, have no direct control over.”

Getting to know Riley Stuart

Hi there, I'm Riley! My name is Riley Stuart, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I earned my Master's in Counseling from National University and my Bachelor's from California State University, Fullerton. As a therapist, I am committed to the well-being of all my clients and use various techniques and experiences to assist in each individual's growth. I have extensive experience working with clients in the LGBTQ* community as well as those struggling with depression, anxiety, substance use, and co-occurring disorders. My approach I strongly believe in finding a therapist that works for you because if you are unable to be open to your therapist or the therapeutic process, it will not be successful. I use approaches including CBT, solution-focused, mindfulness, gestalt, and client-centered therapy. My focus I typically work with adults struggling with anxiety, depression, substance use, or co-occurring disorders. I have many years of experience working with those in the LGBTQ* community for various therapy needs. My communication style My goal is to focus on what is important to the client and work with them to move toward their therapy goals. I aim to make the client-therapist relationship comfortable and inviting so clients want to attend and participate in sessions. My journey to mental healthcare Growing up, I always wanted to help people, and naturally, people came to me for advice and to talk. I didn't know much about therapy until adulthood, but after meeting a therapist at another job, I started the process. I fell into a routine and enjoyed helping others help themselves. My goals for you I am open with clients during the first session about their goals. I work with them to set a long-term goal and then, throughout treatment, smaller goals to reach it. I want it to be a client-driven, collaborative effort.
