Robert Macklin, LCMHC

Psychotherapist
NC
Hi there, I'm Robert! Dr. R. L. Macklin, NC LCMHC, lic #1754, SC lic #6898. I mostly approach therapy with an open mind and ear, allowing the client to present their issues and concerns so I can guide them in the appropriate direction for their therapy. I occasionally make necessary adjustments while building rapport and gaining deeper insight into the client’s position to better understand their needs and wishes for a complete therapeutic experience. My approach My therapeutic approach is eclectic and integrative, which allows me to select from various therapeutic techniques as different issues unfold. One size doesn’t necessarily fit all, so I anticipate the need for diverse theories and disciplines to meet each client’s unique needs and expectations. My focus I have worked with a wide variety of clients facing issues such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, marriage and family challenges, stress reduction, and PTSD from both civilian and military trauma. My communication style My communication style centers on allowing the client to take the lead, then following through with the mode of communication that best suits their needs. I am flexible and practiced in a myriad of styles to ensure effective connection. My journey to mental healthcare I initially developed my desire to study psychology at an early age because I wanted to help others. As I pursued this in college, I became interested in sociology, searching for deeper understanding and ways to assist people. Later, I realized counseling offered the greatest opportunity to make meaningful changes and help others make better choices and directions. After studying various disciplines, I saw that counseling could help clients before their lives became more complex or traumatic. Education I earned my Doctor of Counseling from Charter University, which has further equipped me to provide effective, compassionate care tailored to each client’s journey.
