Getting to know Russell Anthony Marino

I offer a unique perspective in this field as a Black male counselor with 15 years of experience. I am biracial and enjoy working with people of color and Caucasians of any age who are seeking help with issues such as depression, anxiety, identity concerns, social challenges, life direction, and many others. I also enjoy working with couples of any age and type. I prefer to utilize the Strengthening Families Program, an evidence-based practice with excellent material related to thought management, symptom and feelings regulation, communication skills, and life and family structure. I emphasize the importance of rest, nutrition, and exercise for anyone striving to improve their well-being or overall health. I am person-centered and aim to ensure our sessions flow smoothly and our conversations are engaging and enjoyable. I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling Services from the State University of New York, Oswego.

What should a new client know about working with you?

During sessions, clients can expect easy-flowing conversations where they are listened to, respected, and given feedback. I like to begin sessions by talking about current issues and checking in with progress moving forward toward goals. Then it is important to touch on what I like to call bedrock routines. That is routines related to rest, nutrition, and exercise. After that, we will spend the session moving forward on our goal issues, creating and rewording goals, developing strategies, and ideally reducing the presence of any symptoms. We'll conclude by agreeing on goals and movement forward expected for the next session.

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
