Sarah Shlemon, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Sarah! Welcome. In a society that is so often filled with pain, pressure, judgement and shame, I believe it is beautiful that you are dedicating the time to slow down and care for yourself. As a therapist, I hope to support you in strengthening your relationship with yourself—your ability to love, honor, accept, forgive, trust and be kind to you. My approach I care about you and I care about you caring about yourself. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you understand the relationship between your thoughts, feelings and behaviors and strengths-based, person-in-environment frameworks so that we can nurture your gifts, and appreciate that your past is a part of you, but does not define you. My focus If you are looking for a place to feel accepted, connected, honored, appreciated, seen, and listened to, that is what I am here to do. This is a no judgement zone. We are all just humans trying figuring it out. I am here to partner with you in your journey of healing and self-discovery. My communication style I am someone who genuinely cares about getting to share space with you and listen to your story. I am patient, and I know from personal and professional experience that healing is not linear. I speak with honesty, love, and do appreciate humor (where appropriate). I will gently ask questions you might not have thought of, or had the time to answer. My journey to mental healthcare Before entering clinical practice, I spent years working in schools and community-based organizations supporting young people and families facing systemic barriers. From teaching restorative justice practices to providing bilingual therapy to immigrant youth, I’ve witnessed the power of connection and empathy in transforming lives. My goals for you You are the captain of your ship. I am here to support you in modifying and navigating the map as you sail. We will meet you where you are, adapt treatment when necessary, and take things session by session.
