Hi there, I'm Shannon! I am Shannon Fiorica, LMFT, with a Master?s in Marriage and Family Therapy from California State University, Dominguez Hills. I believe therapy should be collaborative. My role is to help you get to the root of your problem and develop tools and strategies to solve it. I use various approaches, depending on what works best for you. My approach I have an eclectic approach, drawing on Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Humanistic Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, and Family Systems. My focus I work with adolescents, adults, parents, and individuals who identify as LGBTQIA+. I frequently see depression, anxiety disorders, trauma-related disorders, grief, and parenting support. My communication style I create a space that feels open and comfortable so clients can be their true selves. I ensure they feel comfortable expressing themselves and asking questions, and I remind them that reaching goals is a process. My journey to therapy I've always been interested in helping people. In college, I volunteered at a women's shelter, where I realized that listening combined with compassion and empathy supported my interest in helping others. I loved assisting people in identifying thinking patterns holding them back from reaching their potential. My goals for you I approach goal-setting by establishing a baseline of where clients are and their current goals. I ask about essential life areas, help prioritize what they want to accomplish, and discuss what they need to do to achieve their goals using S.M.A.R.T.?Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound?steps.
