Congratulations on beginning your journey of change. I am here to support you on your pathway to becoming the best version of yourself through open communication, identifying areas of need, creating effective coping skills, and learning strategies for change. I believe every person is doing their best and can reach personal goals through the guidance of therapy. My areas of focus include stressful life changes, depression, anxiety, and supporting individuals navigating life with significant mental illness, including Bipolar Disorder and psychosis. I strive to create a safe and supportive environment, considering each person as a whole. I integrate various aspects of a client's life, including family, social, and spiritual, to build areas of strength. While I have experience with all ages of individuals, I specialize in working with transition-aged youth (16-25). I hope to help you work through the many changes that occur during the transition into adulthood. Navigating growing independence, decisions about school, career, and personal values can add anxiety and stress. These areas are my strength. I strive to support each person in identifying their goals and desires in a safe and healthy environment.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I use a warm, open communication style. I want your therapy experience to feel like a safe space to talk about your stressors without judgment. I prefer to gently guide people to finding answers they are seeking while demonstrating healthy boundaries and pointing out discrepancies in thought process. Early in my career, I spent time tutoring children and youth in the foster care system. Through this, I saw that these youth were struggling largely in part due to their experience of trauma and neglect, and would more benefit from therapy. This, in addition to recalling my own difficulties with my mental health in my teen years, led me to return to school to become a Marriage and Family Therapist. After completing my master's degree, I worked with transition-aged youth with severe mental illness and in crisis mental health. These experiences were so rewarding and beneficial in my learning.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I use a person-centered, collaborative approach with Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy modalities. I tailor my approach based on each client's identified personal needs and goals. I believe you are the expert in your life, so I want to work together to help you create the framework for your success. In the first therapy session with you, I would like to learn about your preferences, history, areas of need, and personal goals. Think of it as an opportunity to get to know each other. From this, we can, together, create a plan of action to support you in becoming your best self.
