Getting to know Sonia Irene Vasquez

Hi there, I'm Sonia Irene! I am a Licensed Clinical social Worker, I have been in the mental health field since 2012 working with clients with different disorders ranging in severity. I am trained in working with clients of all ages and I also see couples. My focus I work with all ages and most diagnosis and together we will work on improving your quality of life by addressing your mental health with a variety of approaches based on your needs. My approach When working with clients my approach is insightful and collaborative to build awareness and work together to find what works best for the client. My communication style I am open and honest with all of my clients from day one and let them know what they can expect from sessions. I can be direct if needed but will never push you unless you are ready. I am an active listener and empathetic when clients discuss their feelings and concerns. My journey to mental healthcare My journey to becoming a clinician came from my interest in Psychology and how the mind works as well as my desire to help others. Working in an outpatient mental health clinic as a case manager with clients with severe mental health disorders and seeing their struggle accessing care was what motivated me to apply for my master's degree. My goals for you I feels that treatment goals need to be something that the client wants to work on and I just help to turn them into realistic and achievable goals. Our first session Our first session is a time to get to know each other and why you are seeking counseling. It is a formal assessment, and we explore what goals you want to focus on. I like to end the session with a little bit of information of what to expect for our first one on one appointments after the assessment and treatment plan are completed.
