Sonja Meyer, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hello, I am Sonja Meyer, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California. I hold a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Fresno Pacific University. At the heart of my work is creating a warm and caring space where clients can express themselves without judgment. I find that I work best with people experiencing grief, depression, anxiety, life transitions, and relationship difficulties. Using a kind and gentle approach, I guide each client toward deeper self-knowledge so they can gradually begin to let go of harmful patterns that may be keeping them stuck. My approach to therapy is tailored to each individual's unique needs and circumstances, recognizing that no two clients are exactly the same. I draw from a variety of theoretical orientations, including client-centered, CBT, solution-focused, and psychodynamic approaches. The most valuable part of therapy is the therapeutic connection, and I strive to build meaningful relationships with my clients based on trust, respect, and hope. I enjoy working with people who understand that change begins with acknowledging the need for it, setting goals, and taking action. I find joy in supporting individuals who take ownership of their lives, focusing on what they can control, and taking full responsibility for their choices and actions. I especially love working with clients who want to improve their relationships through healthier communication, manage anxiety and depression, or rebuild their lives after loss. My communication style aims to create a calm and peaceful atmosphere by maintaining a composed demeanor, using gentle language, and actively listening without unnecessary interruptions. I carefully assess each client's emotional readiness and allow them to progress through therapy at a pace that feels most comfortable.
