Getting to know Steven Diamond

Hi there, I'm Steven! I am an LPCC with nearly 15 years of experience providing services to clients of all ages. I earned my Master’s in Counseling from Palo Alto University. Most of my career has been spent working with clients in crisis and crisis prevention, including non-public schools, residential, crisis stabilization, and suicide prevention settings. I am client-centered and use an integrative approach to meet each client's needs. I have significant experience with trauma, depression, anxiety, substance use, and dual diagnosis. Additionally, I worked as a mobile crisis clinician in a co-responder model for over a year, gaining valuable experience collaborating with first responders. **My approach** I meet clients where they are, then engage in empowerment, support, coaching, and motivational interviewing to help identify and work toward their goals. I often use CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused, and ACT techniques. There is no single "right way" to reach goals; therapy supports each individual in getting there. **My focus** I have worked mostly with clients ages 12-55 but have experience with all ages. Much of my work involves supporting those experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use, borderline personality disorder, and dual diagnosis. I also have experience with clients experiencing psychosis and bipolar disorder. **My communication style** I adapt my communication to meet clients’ needs, providing supportive and empowering communication while maintaining directness to ensure structure and focus on treatment goals. **My journey to mental healthcare** In middle school, my older sister’s ex-boyfriend died by suicide. This deeply affected me and sparked my passion for supporting people who are struggling and in need of help.
