Psychotherapist
CO
Hi there, I'm Sue! Clients say I combine empathy with proven tools for creating a thriving life. I was drawn to become a therapist after seeing how early patterns of thinking and behavior could loop people into distress. A dear friend's struggle with anxiety showed me how practical skills could change someone's daily life. My approach What guides me in my approach to client care is a belief in the dignity and resilience of every person. We always create treatment plans together. My focus My focus is on ADHD, anxiety and panic disorders, depression, general relationship challenges—including those with family, friends, and co-workers—and trauma, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). My communication style I emphasize direct and clear communication to create a supportive, non-judgmental environment. I practice empathic listening and will give you opportunities to reflect on your experiences. I inquire gently into deeper beliefs and blocks. If we’re working through something challenging, you can expect me to be calm and patient. My journey to mental healthcare In the wake of 9/11 in NYC, I was drawn to become a therapist. I was in Manhattan close to the horrific scene and wanted to assist trauma victims, soothe the survivors and families, and provide a tool-kit for moving forward in life in spite of the mass tragedy. Whether in acute situations or day-to-day life, I thrive on progress for my clients. My goals for you I believe in accurately assessing your current state and then utilizing the SMART approach to goal setting: Specific. Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-bound. My first session with you At our first session, I'll share a bit about my background and training. I'll explain how therapy works and what you can expect, including how confidentiality works. I'll ask questions to understand what brings you to therapy and what your goals are. We'll then craft a plan for moving forward, including how often to meet and what to focus on first.
