Psychotherapist

Congrats on getting to this point! It can feel like a lot getting started. Now, would you like a therapist with a quirky sense of humor, even when working on trauma? What about a therapist who has lived experience with family members aligning their body expression? How about a collaborative client/therapist relationship? If yes, I am yours. (: My approach I approach each person with the belief that my job is to work myself out of a job. I listen to what you would like freedom from and work on a plan to get that freedom for you. It could be freedom from anxiety, trauma, gender presentation, or sexual orientation. It could be freedom from other people's opinions or your own negative self-talk. My focus You are tired of trauma porn? You know, telling the tale to one helper after another only to see 'that look'...the one that tells you this person has no idea what it feels like to be the teller of such tales. Tired of therapists who claim to help you find full gender expression, then misgender and micro-aggress you? Yes? We just might be a match. My communication style Irreverent. Blunt. Warm. Light-hearted. Spiritual. May snort when laughing. My journey to mental healthcare I was 13 when I felt 'seen' for the first time. It was a therapist who worked getting kids who were "wards of the court" back home. From that moment, I had a secret dream. In my 30s, I had EMDR therapy and added EMDR training to my dream. Back in 2003, two important people to me began the journey from AFAB to male. I walked them as far as I could. My goals for you As an EMDR trained therapist, I find the negative cognitions that you feel are impacting your life right now. We work to decrease the discomfort and increase the positive aspects. Ex. "I should have done something," to "I did the best I could". I can and will write letters for surgeries. It's a process complicated with requirements, but can be done.
