Hi there, I'm Suzanne! I am Suzanne Walker, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist in North Carolina. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, Reality Therapy, and Supportive Therapy among other modalities. My focus areas are Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, LGBTQ+, Addictions, Life Transitions, and Trauma. I earned my Master's in Counseling Psychology from Marymount University and my Bachelor's from North Carolina State University. My approach I commonly use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindful techniques, Reality Therapy, and Supportive Therapy. Sometimes I use one approach, other times several. My focus I work effectively with young adults and elders. I am most comfortable with clients struggling with Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, LGBTQ+ issues, Life Transitions, and Addictions. I help clients build coping skills and techniques for current challenges and tools to use after therapy ends. My communication style I am easygoing and have been described as caring, non-judgmental, real, honest, and open. I use humor in sessions. If something distressing arises, please bring it up. I aim to provide a safe, non-judgmental environment where you can express your thoughts and feelings openly. My journey to mental healthcare I have always wanted to be a therapist. I was told not to pursue Psychology because I wouldn't support myself. After being impacted by September 11, 2001, I decided to follow my passion. In 2002, I began my Master's Program in Counseling Psychology.
