Terri Faison, LCMHC

Psychotherapist
NC
Hi there, I'm Terri! My name is Terri Faison. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist. I earned my Master’s in Counseling from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. I strive to “help you help yourself” by supporting you in working through past and current issues in order to maintain or discover your “Life Worth Living For.” My approach My therapeutic approach is a mixture of client-centered care—you are in charge of your treatment, and we work together to set your goals; Motivational Interviewing, where we elicit change talk and address feelings of uncertainty; and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, to assist with the development of skills to understand and accept difficult feelings. My focus I have experience working with both children/adolescents and adults who experience anxiety, depression, trauma-related issues, and substance use. My communication style Therapy is cathartic to me, meaning whatever emotion you are feeling, let it out. Therapy is the place to work on difficult feelings or issues and not worry about being uncomfortable. My journey to mental healthcare I initially started working in the mental health field as a Qualified Mental Health Professional. In this position, I focused on linking individuals to needed community resources and services to ensure a better quality of living. I saw that most of my clients had internal issues that affected their ability to access these resources. I aspired to become a therapist to “help people help themselves.” My goals for you In goal setting, we address the most pressing issues and/or needs that cause the most distress. My first session with you It is important to develop an understanding of what therapy is and is not. In the first session, we will review your clinical assessment, discuss diagnoses, and set goals.
