Tessa Richter, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CO
I'm a mom of three and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I studied child and family development in college in Missouri, then earned my Master’s in Social Work (MSW) from the University of Denver. My passion is helping parents and their infants or toddlers create strong, healthy relationships full of delight, focused on the wellbeing of both babies and parents. I use the long-established theory of attachment to help parents cut through the noise and tap into their intuition, goals, and needs. My approach Difficult pregnancies, unexpected birth experiences, relationships with our childhood caregivers, postpartum mood disorders, and changing connections with our spouse, family, and friends—all influence how we show up with our little ones. My goal is to help you settle into a relationship with your child that meets both the baby’s and your social and emotional needs. I use a strength-based, solution-focused approach, incorporating motivational interviewing, mindfulness, and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), all within early relational health and attachment theory. My focus I support parents of any gender and families of any composition or journey. I work with expectant parents (through any means), postpartum parents, and those raising babies and toddlers experiencing depression, anxiety, intrusive thoughts, relationship challenges, trouble bonding, guilt, shame, or doubt as they transition into parenting. I also support those who want to parent differently than they were raised. First-time, second-time, fifth-time, adoptive, fertility-assisted, same-sex, single, bottle-feeding, breastfeeding, and NICU parents are all welcome here. My communication style I am casual, warm, approachable, and solution-oriented. I like to think I’m humorous too. I am NOT a parenting expert—my goal is for you to feel confident in your relationship with your child in a way that feels authentic to who you are as a person.
