Hi there, I'm Theppharack (Thepp)! I am Theppharack Sounthala, LCSW, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California with a Master of Social Work from California State University, Stanislaus. I have been providing mental health services since 2002 and have been licensed since 2009. I have experience working with diverse adults experiencing Anxiety, Depression, PTSD, Grief, and Loss. I also have experience working with refugee clients-I am a refugee myself. I speak Laotian and Thai. Some of my most used modalities include CBT, Cognitive Processing, Humanistic, Mindfulness, Person-Centered, Psychodynamic, Reality Therapy, Solution-Focused, Strength-Based, Compassion-Focused, Motivational Interviewing, Multicultural, and Interpersonal. Specialties: Anger Management, Depression, Domestic Violence, Grief, Impulsivity, Parenting, Self-Esteem, Self-Harming, Stress, Trauma, and PTSD I have extensive experience working with a diverse adult population. I use active listening, empathic responses, supportive feedback, reframing, and metaphor examples to support my clients. When I was in high school, I always thought about becoming a counselor but wasn't sure what type. In college, I wanted to become a Medical Social Worker. After earning my BA in Sociology, I had the opportunity to work at a psychiatric hospital. Inspired by the in-patient therapists, I asked them what I needed to do and, with their guidance, enrolled in the Master of Social Work program at California State University, Stanislaus. After graduating, I accepted a position with the County Mental Health Department. Throughout my career, I have taken many trainings to improve my clinical practice. My goal is to provide tools for my clients so they can cope with and adapt to daily life stressors and changes.
