Getting to know Theresa Rodriquez

My name is Theresa Rodriguez, CADC, LMFT. I have been in the helping field for over 14 years. I hold a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Touro University Worldwide. My experience and background are with individuals who need further assistance with mental health, substance use, trauma, and LGBTQ+ issues. I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Relapse Prevention techniques to help clients make progress and start feeling better about where they are and where they have yet to go. My approach My approaches remain flexible based on individual needs. This includes person-centered therapy, relapse prevention techniques, cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, acceptance and commitment therapy, and positive psychology. My focus I have experience working with the LGBTQ+ community and individuals struggling with co-occurring disorders, substance use disorders, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders, schizophrenia, and trauma. My communication style I take an empathic and gentle approach to help clients find a more fulfilling life. My journey to mental healthcare I decided to work in the helping field because I also have lived experience and understand the value and change that comes from therapy. When it came time to choose a career, this was a no-brainer. I have always had a strong passion and desire to help individuals grow, make changes, and step into their true selves. My goals for you By taking a collaborative approach, I aim to empower and encourage clients to reach realistic and measurable goals. I believe the client is the creator of their life, and I am here to assist with identifying a starting point. My first session with you I view therapy as a collaboration with the client. I explore the client's past, help them understand present symptoms, and work toward a journey into a better future.
