Theresa Wallace, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Theresa Wallace, and I hold a Master’s in Social Work from California State University, Long Beach, as well as a License in Clinical Social Work (LCSW). I use a person-centered, trauma-informed approach, taking time to ask each of my clients about their goals for therapy so I can prioritize which modalities will best help them reach those goals. My approach I primarily use Self-Compassion, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) skills, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). My focus I typically treat adults ages 18-60 who experience anxiety, depression, and trauma. I incorporate a Socratic/Psychodynamic approach to help clients build insight into which behaviors may or may not be serving them and where those behaviors may have originated. Sometimes I bring inner child work into my EMDR sessions to help clients effectively reparent themselves, especially when focusing on early childhood and complex trauma. My communication style I strive to find a balance between gentle and direct, helping my clients feel safe and supported on their growth journey. My journey to mental healthcare I have always been an empathic listener and intent observer, which naturally led me to work with people to support their healing journeys. I am passionate about helping clients move from isolation and fear toward healing, growth, and self-compassion. My goals for you From the start, I ask clients about any specific goals they have for therapy. I also assess symptoms to reduce or ineffective behaviors to replace with skills, so I can understand what each individual wants support with. My first session with you I like to thoroughly review informed consent, which usually takes about 15 minutes.
