Getting to know Tim Shreve

Hi there, I'm Tim! Hi, I'm Tim Shreve, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a Master’s in Social Work from The University of Texas at Arlington. I enjoy helping people work to overcome negative thoughts that often lead to cycles of anxiety, depression, and feeling "stuck." I provide practical and applicable tools to help reduce negative thoughts and regain control over your life. My approach I often use a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused therapy. I believe in working to relieve what is blocking you now while also looking for root causes to hopefully prevent things from coming back in the future. My focus I enjoy working with all ages and genders. Every stage of life is unique and presents its own challenges. I enjoy meeting people wherever they are and helping them work through their thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. I work with kids ages 8-18, have worked with many college and young adult students in their 20s, helped numerous clients in their 30s with work/life balance struggles, and supported those 40+ in rediscovering who they are and what they need after neglecting it for quite some time. My communication style I strive to create a conversational and approachable therapeutic environment. I do my best to explain how and why the brain works in a way most people can comprehend. I enjoy keeping things light and humorous when possible but also appreciate when things need to go deeper and become more serious. My journey to mental healthcare I have taken a long road to becoming a therapist, but I wouldn’t change any of it because each step gave me unique and valuable experience. I spent a couple of decades doing various social work jobs—from working for Child Protective Services (CPS) to working at a Children’s Hospital to being a virtual therapist. I care deeply for people and want to see them become the best and most authentic versions of themselves.
