Hi there, I'm Tonetta! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist with a Master's in Social Work from Fayetteville State University. I provide support and counseling to individuals experiencing psychological, emotional, and behavioral issues such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, and substance use disorders. I use a person-centered approach that allows my clients to have a safe space to feel heard and empowered to take ownership of their mental well-being. I look forward to collaborating with you on your journey to make the long-lasting positive changes you desire while improving your overall quality of life. **My approach** In addition to using a person-centered approach to empower clients, I incorporate motivational interviewing to explore reasons and motivation to change, cognitive behavioral techniques to address unhelpful thought patterns, behavioral strategies to identify and change problematic behaviors, trauma-informed care to acknowledge and explore the impact of trauma while reducing re-traumatization, and an integrative approach tailored to each client's needs. **My focus** I typically work with clients aged 18 and up who are diagnosed with anxiety, depression, PTSD, substance use disorders, adjustment disorder, and schizophrenia. I also provide support for clients experiencing grief and stress. **My communication style** Providing a safe space for clients, I aim to create an inviting environment that is calm, warm, supportive, authentic, and assertive so clients feel comfortable sharing information. Clients feel welcomed, heard, and supported in their goals when working with me. **My journey to mental healthcare** Interning as an office assistant at a mental health agency attracted me to a career as a therapist. I connected with clients naturally and understood their perspectives; however, I could only check them in and upload their paperwork into the electronic health records system.
