Valerie Presley, LCMHC

Psychotherapist
NC
Hi there, I'm Valerie! Hi! I look forward to working with you. I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor in the state of North Carolina. I earned my Master's in Counseling from Liberty University. I love to work with individuals ages 18-64 and help them navigate life's ups and downs. I am a compassionate listener and will guide you at your pace. I am a Christian and see the world through the lens of the Bible. I am respectful of others' beliefs and thoughts. We all need help at different times in our lives, and I applaud anyone who makes their mental health a priority. Reaching out takes courage, but you will never regret asking for help. I have two cats, Chester and Henry, who provide love and support for me. I also care for my older parents a few times a week, so I appreciate the flexibility of online therapy. My approach My approach is semi-directive but flexible. I listen carefully to understand your concerns and needs so we can formulate a goal or plan to address the issues troubling you. My focus I work primarily with adults struggling with depression, anxiety, stress, or life transitions. My communication style My communication style is nonjudgmental and compassionate. I am open to getting to know your needs so we can build rapport and trust. As a therapist, I provide a comfortable, welcoming environment that puts clients at ease. My journey to mental healthcare I realized early on that I enjoyed listening to and encouraging others. At every job I worked, I found myself asking coworkers how they were doing. Even in middle school, I tried to include classmates who were left out or made fun of. I saw many people who weren't getting the support and encouragement they needed from family or friends. I am trying to put my God-given gifts and talents to use to make this world a better place.
