Vanessa Evans Vovk, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi, I'm Vanessa! My name is Vanessa Evans Vovk, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) located in Modesto, CA. I work with clients throughout California via telehealth. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from California State University, Stanislaus, and my Bachelor’s degree from the University of the Pacific in Stockton. My approach to therapy depends on the needs of each individual client. Age and cognitive abilities guide the techniques I use, while I remain mindful of each person’s environment and culture and the impact these have. Frequently, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Client-Centered Therapy, which allow my clients to identify their needs and help me understand the lens through which they view their life. Together, we build a working relationship that supports progress in the stage of life where they find themselves. We work to create and maintain a positive lens that helps clients navigate life more successfully. I work with clients across varying phases of life, from childhood through adulthood. Some of my areas of focus include anxiety, stress, depression, relationships, adoption, foster care, and life transitions. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Client-Centered Therapy with a strengths-based approach, I aim to foster progress and positive feelings in my clients’ lives. My communication style is gentle, supportive, and appropriately honest. I strive to create a strong therapeutic alliance where clients feel their time with me is a safe space to fully express themselves. I am proud to be open-minded, non-judgmental, and eager to learn from my clients. My desire to become a therapist is rooted in my passion for helping others, which I believe positively impacts our community and society as a whole. I have experience working at a macro level with homeless individuals, those with severe mental illness, and people facing substance use challenges, always considering the broader community context.
