Hi there, I'm Vanessa! I am passionate about being a therapist because I respect all of life's twists and turns. You are choosing to begin a journey of building awareness through gaining more insight into your life. I commend you for choosing to begin this journey and would enjoy the opportunity to lead you on this expedition. My approach I believe in the importance of client-centered therapy and am willing to either help you work towards implementing solutions for your problems or providing a safe space for processing. Your experiences are unique and deserve specialized care. I will work with you to achieve your goals based on your readiness. My focus I have detailed experience working with people struggling with the most intensive types of mental illness. Furthermore, I have also worked with individuals who were psychotic at the time of their felony offenses. So, whether you are struggling with anything ranging from psychosis to symptoms of depression, I am hopeful we can successfully collaborate on working towards your goals. My communication style Open and direct communication is the style that I emphasize. In order to most effectively treat you, I understand we need to establish trustworthy communication. As a result, you can expect that I will practice empathy and calmness with you and will always ensure a non-judgmental space. My journey to mental healthcare Becoming a therapist felt natural. I've always felt profoundly about providing compassion and support to others, particularly in their most challenging times. During my early years of therapy, I worked directly with people who committed felonies but were psychotic at the time of their offenses. Although many would have scoffed at the offenses ranging anywhere from murder to robbery, I appreciated being able to work with these folks because I was able to truly understand their struggles and life pathways that led them into such challenges, while being able to help them further develop their resilience.
