Psychotherapist

Hi there, I'm Vannessa! Are you considering starting therapy? You might have a lot of questions or doubts about getting started. Together, we can explore your questions and how you're feeling and determine what treatment might benefit you. I take a collaborative approach in therapy with the aim to assist you in identifying goals and help you develop the tools you need to reach your goals. I look forward to meeting with you whenever you're ready. My approach I use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TFCBT) to assist you in challenging negative thoughts. It can be extremely difficult to talk about negative experiences. With this approach, we can move at a pace that works for you and explore your individual needs. Together, we can develop healthy coping skills and increase your motivation to make positive changes in your life. My focus I have worked with children, adolescents, adults (including older adults), and families on a variety of issues (i.e., behavioral problems, school/work stress, anger management, grief, trauma, etc.). I can assist you with managing anxious or depressive thoughts, building healthy coping skills, learn healthy communication skills, or working through trauma experiences. We can work together on creating a treatment plan to help you reach your goals. My communication style I aim to provide a safe and non-judgmental environment where I practice active listening to help you reflect on your experiences. I encourage you to be open and honest about what you're comfortable sharing in therapy, as I am aware it can be very difficult to talk about certain topics. My hope is that as we continue to build rapport and work together, your confidence to share will increase with each session. My journey to mental healthcare I grew up with a negative view of therapy based on how they were portrayed in the media. It wasn't until I went to college that I learned more about what therapy really meant and how it can.
