If this is your first time in therapy, then this can feel scary, exciting, or confusing all at the same time. You are taking a big step, and that can always be a bag of mixed emotions. If you have been to therapy before, then welcome back. Therapy is not forever, but we all need "tune-ups" now and then to be able to maintain moving forward in a healthy way. I am here to support you and to work collaboratively with you to get to a place you feel comfortable. Everyone's journey is different, and together we can work on your path to change. I have been trained in a few different Evidence-Based Practices(EBP) throughout my career. This does not mean that I will only use EBPs in our session. My approach to care is more of whatever it takes to help you in session. I like to tailor a plan that you feel comfortable working with to make the changes you want. This could look like getting ideas or skills from different modalities, EBPs, etc., to help create goals that you are happy with. Throughout my career, I have worked with children and their families. I have worked with caregivers in learning, navigating, and understanding their child's mental health diagnosis and needs. I have also helped caretakers understand their own feelings regarding having a child who has a mental health need. I have also worked with individuals who suffer from anxiety, depression, ADHD, and those who are ready to work through their trauma. I work with you and create a safe space for you to work at your own pace.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I foster a judgment free environment where you can feel comfortable in speaking freely. I will let you lead the session but I will also ask questions that I feel would benefit from better understanding and clarification. I will also bring to you attention when I see that you are avoiding a question or topic. I will not push if you are not ready and sessions are at your pace. My goal is to help you grow and learn new skills to achieve your goals. I have always wanted to help others, even as a child. As I grew and found psychology in college, it just made sense. It was something that I wanted to pursue, and I found that helping others from within resonated with me. Being able to help heal the past but also change the future for individuals was and still is a meaningful part of my career.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first few sessions, we will talk about your ideas and goals. I can get a better understanding of what you want to achieve, and we will work on outlining those goals for you. Goals are set by you, but goals are not set in stone. If they need to change, then we change them as needed. Goals should be attainable and something that is working for you and your growth. First session with me are information gathering. Our first session there is no "therapy" happening. During this time I get to know your history, reason for coming in and general ideas/goals you want to work on. We go over logistics of how therapy will work etc. Our first session is really helping build the foundation for your space in which you will grow.
