Hi there, I'm Vittorio! Hello! My name is Vittorio (Vitto) Roberti, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and professional clinical counselor. I hold a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy and a Master’s in Counseling Psychology, both from National University. I have an extensive history in this field and have helped many people. I worked for 20 years in male and female psychiatric security units in county jail. I have also worked extensively with troubled youth and state prison inmates transitioning back to society. Additionally, I have experience with military veterans and first responders, addressing mental health and addiction issues while working at Veterans Village of San Diego. My approach I am fundamentally client-centered (Rogerian) and aim to resolve presenting problems while helping clients achieve the maximum and most productive self-actualization or personal growth possible. Like any good therapist, I use the most appropriate interventions to address and resolve my clients’ needs, such as CBT, DBT, and ACT, to name a few. An eclectic approach allows me to customize treatment to each client’s specific needs and avoid the common “cookie cutter” mistakes many large organizations default to. My focus I work with non-traditional or non-mainstream clients and civilians, ranging from veterans and first responders to alternate sexuality and lifestyles. The most important thing is to connect with a client’s humanity rather than worrying about “classifying” their “type.” My goals for you I listen carefully and seek clarification whenever necessary. My first session with you I will mostly listen, asking directed questions to fully understand your needs. I will also help you put any anxiety, fears, or misconceptions about starting therapy to rest.
