Getting to know Wendi Tovey

Hi there, I'm Wendi! I'm SO glad you're here, and I hope we can meet soon! My name is Wendi Tovey, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I earned my Master's in Social Work from the University of Southern California. I am passionate about working with people and helping them navigate what they are facing. I am driven to collaborate with my clients to decrease their symptoms and support them in moving forward. I practice with many modalities, depending on where the client is and what they are experiencing. I believe interweaving mindfulness and gratitude into one's mental health treatment journey can be a powerful and healing tool. My approach The approach I use in therapy is always based on the client and their needs. I find myself drawn to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, and a Strength-Based Approach. A positive sense of self is often a focus of therapy, along with learning emotional regulation, healthy coping techniques, and grounding. I also enjoy working with clients around mindfulness and gratitude. My focus I have been in the behavioral health field for several years and have worked with a multitude of clients. I most enjoy working with clients who are committed and motivated to make positive changes. I am comfortable treating people and the matters (i.e., divorce, grief and loss, life transitions) that have brought on their symptoms, and addressing and decreasing those symptoms (i.e., depression, anxiety). My goals for you Therapy without goals is like a diet without healthy eating and exercise. Each session should be tied to the goals the client is working on. Goals should be fluid and able to adapt to life and the client as necessary. Goals assist us in keeping focus and working toward the common goal.

I chose Wendi as my therapist after reading her bio on Rula. I really resonated with what she said. Having now worked with her for several months, I appreciate her honesty, her willingness to let my babble on while patiently waiting to respond. She holds me accountable, is real with her advice and we have come to learn that we have many things in common. I truly appreciate working with her and she is a very important part of my life. Truly blessed to have found such an amazing person!
I considered Wendi because she was very experienced in the beginning, but then I quickly realized why she was such a great person to have 1 on 1s with. She is absolutely amazing about keeping everything in perspective and in order when it came to when my emotions were fluctuating. I also felt like I could trust her and it really made it a lot easier to talk to her. She is a great social work/counselor and I would completely recommend her to any people new to therapy.
