Getting to know Wilene Chang

My name is Wilene Chang, and I am a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist (LMFT) based in San Jose, California, working with clients in-person or via telehealth. I hold a Master?s degree in Counseling Psychology from John F. Kennedy University. I work with young adults and the elderly population, specializing in anxiety, stress, and life concerns, using Client-Centered Therapy and the Humanistic Approach. This allows clients to make progress while trusting me to support their concerns. My approach My approach to therapy varies based on each client?s needs. I most frequently use the Client-Centered and Humanistic approaches, meeting clients where they are, emphasizing growth and self-realization, and focusing on free will, human potential, and self-discovery. My focus I have found that my style and approach are a good fit for most adults from various backgrounds who may be dealing with life transitions and social pressures. These challenges often manifest as anxiety, stress, and depression. I work to help clients navigate these transitions and build skills that foster a better sense of self and a more positive outlook on life. My communication style My communication style is calm, friendly, accommodating, and nonjudgmental. I want my clients to feel comfortable sharing anything with me and to know that I am here to listen and support them with respect and understanding. My journey to therapy I decided to become a therapist because I have always wanted to help others. My own experience in therapy has changed my life in many ways?as a parent, teacher, wife, and individual growing through many challenges. The most rewarding part has been learning to be who I am and to be true to myself. My goals for you My approach to goal setting is collaborative, focusing on building rapport and exploring what you want to accomplish. It takes time to build trust and become comfortable with therapy. Over time, we will work together to set goals and review your progress.
