Getting to know William Huntley

Hello, I am Liam Huntley, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a Master’s in Social Work from California State University, Sacramento. I have been working in Social Services, Social Work, and Therapy for over 20 years and have been in Private Practice since March 2022. My main goal as a therapist is to help you see the truth of who you are and what you can be. My approach I practice Talk Therapy, meaning our sessions are conversations between us. These conversations are not about everyday topics but are designed to safely unpack the challenges that brought you here, without creating further emotional or mental pain. I work from a client-centered, strengths-based perspective so you can recognize the strengths you have that may be blocked by life’s challenges. It’s easy to become overwhelmed by difficulties and focus on negative thoughts, which we often internalize without realizing it. My main modalities, which we can explore more during an initial consult, include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). My focus It may sound unusual, but I love working with Trauma—whether from family of origin, childhood, or current life experiences. Trauma often drives the distress we face and can show up as Depression, Anxiety, or other diagnoses. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, identifying as gay or queer, I especially focus on this population, as we are often marginalized. I also have extensive experience working with members of the transgender community. I work with clients aged 14 and up and am comfortable supporting many different mental health diagnoses.
