William Johns, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
I have been practicing mental health for 10 years. I am a Cognitive Behaviorally trained provider with a Master’s in Social Work from Azusa Pacific University, and I take as collaborative an approach as possible while helping my clients reach their desired outcomes. My approach As stated, I am cognitive behaviorally (CBT) trained and find CBT provides a good mold for treatment. However, I also find that solutions-focused and strengths-based treatments provide good outcomes depending on the client’s needs. My focus I have experience working with highly acute mentally ill patients through years of inpatient psychiatric hospital work. Currently, I work with mild to moderately acute patients on an outpatient basis, providing assessment and linkage to services. Venturing into outpatient mental health treatment with recurrent clients, I prefer to work with high-functioning, low-acute forms of depression and anxiety. My communication style I am serious and professional. I am straightforward in communication; however, I find jokes and laughter are good ways to bridge the relational gap and improve comfort in the therapeutic relationship. My journey to mental healthcare I have always been a good listener and have enjoyed psychology. Clinical Social Work has allowed me to use this skill set in a way that is both helpful and productive. My goals for you I believe goal setting is entirely client-driven, and as a therapist, it is my job to help clients achieve their goals collaboratively. Patient autonomy is respected. My first session with you The first session is about rapport building. For a client to feel comfortable and make progress, they need to know my personality and understand that I will do my best to help them achieve their goals. I also need to get to know the client I am working with.
