Starting therapy is a courageous step, and I’m honored to be part of your journey. My goal is to create a warm and collaborative space where you can feel truly seen, heard, and supported. I specialize in working with children and adolescents as they navigate academic pressures, emotional challenges, behavioral struggles, and the complexities of growing up. I also work closely with parents and caregivers, offering guidance rooted in Positive Parenting principles to strengthen connection and foster lasting change at home. In addition to my work with youth and families, I support adults in their 20s through 70s who are facing life transitions, anxiety, depression, and trauma. My approach will be tailored to your unique needs & I’m here to walk alongside you with care and curiosity. I draw from a range of evidence-based approaches—including CBT, IFS, Solution-Focused Therapy, and mindfulness—tailoring each session to your specific needs. I have a deep connection to Internal Family Systems (IFS), as it offers a powerful way to explore and care for the different parts of ourselves that hold our emotions, beliefs, and past experiences. This is often paired with cognitive strategies to challenge and reshape unhelpful thought patterns. My approach is active and practical, offering tools that help you feel more grounded, in control, and empowered in your daily life. Depending on what feels most helpful for you, I may also integrate mindfulness and meditation practices. Your growth and goals are always at the center of our work. Together, we’ll identify what’s getting in the way and develop clear strategies to help you move forward with confidence and clarity.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Whether you’re a young person navigating the ups and downs of growing up, a parent seeking support in connecting with your child, or an adult facing life transitions, anxiety, or patterns you’re ready to shift—I’m here to support you. My clients often come to me feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from themselves or others, and together, we work to uncover what’s going on underneath. I help you build insight, develop practical tools, and reconnect with the parts of yourself that need care, clarity, or healing. If you’re looking for a therapist who brings presence, cultural sensitivity, and a hands-on approach, I’d be honored to support you. I don’t see therapy as a dry or impersonal experience where you’re just talking to a stranger. I strive to create a space that feels warm, welcoming, and even infused with humor when it’s helpful. My goal is for you to feel at ease—like you’re talking to someone you trust—while still maintaining the professionalism, respect, and honesty that are essential to a strong therapeutic relationship. I hold space with care, so you can feel safe being open, real, and fully yourself.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My therapy journey began with a deep desire to understand my emotional world. In 1992, I lost my father to a shooting during the unrest of post-war Iran. At the time, I didn’t have the tools to process the loss, and for years I carried a sense of anxiety I couldn’t explain. It wasn’t until college—while taking psychology courses—that things began to click. I realized that my intense separation anxiety was rooted in early trauma, and that many of our behaviors have deeper emotional and relational roots. That insight was life-changing for me. After graduating, I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and moved to Mexico City to teach English as an Elementary school teacher. It was in the classroom that I realized that I wanted to be a therapist more than an educator, to focus on mental health. So I returned to the U.S. to pursue a degree in marriage and family therapy, to support healing in individuals, families, and communities—especially those shaped by trauma, displacement, and cultural transitions. I see therapy as a collaborative space, where I bring clinical expertise and you bring deep insight into your own life. Together, we create a strong partnership focused on what matters most to you. Whether your goals involve improving relationships, building self-esteem, or working through a personal challenge, our work will be tailored to support your growth. As you gain new insights, your goals may naturally shift, and we’ll adapt our approach along the way to ensure it remains meaningful, relevant, and aligned with your evolving needs.
