So, I came to Dr. Abbassi because of a review I read a few years ago - it was great. As a woman, I typically seek out women doctors, but the review I read was by a woman and it was so good that I decided to give him a try. I should also add that at this time, I was new to the Covington area - newly married and moved to Covington from Sandy Springs GA. I knew I needed a family doctor for our family and again, based on the reviews, decided to give him a try.
The original visit was for my daughter. She was on her way college and needed a physical as well as some panel work. To make a long story short, my daughter is "very" particular, and I was concerned that we were seeing a male doctor so I insisted to be present for her physical. Dr. Abbasi was AMAZING with her! I think what stood out most about the interaction was his sincere interest in her overall well-being. He asked about her schooling, her dreams, we talked about the high expense of college. Ultimately, he made us feel like more than an insurance payment (if you know what I mean). I honestly felt like even on the first visit, he genuinely cared and was invested in her current and future health and well-being.
After her visit, I asked her what she thought. To my surprise, she said that she really liked him and would like to continue seeing him as her doctor when she returns home from college. That was HUGE! The only problem was that they stopped taking our insurance (United Health).
Fast forward to 2018, we now have Anthem Blue Cross, and although our daughter is now in her third year of college, we have different insurance and I knew as soon as that happened, I would return to Dr. Abbasi for my own personal care.
Well, I returned today, and I am so happy that I did! I will admit - it took Dr. Abbasi well over my appointment time to see me. However, the moment he walked in and started talking to me, I remembered why I had chosen to return. He is honestly one of the most kindest, genuine doctors I have ever been in the presence of. His gentle reassurance, and honest caring about what I am going through is just something you don't see these days in the medical profession.
I realize this review is long, but its so deserving that I wanted to be sure to express how happy I am to have found Dr. Abbasi. I have talked to my husband about coming over, and now that we have changed insurance, I plan to bring our teenage children here as well. In this day and age where practitioners are more concerned with billing, numbers and herding patients in and out, it's refreshing to see that there are still doctors who truly care, who take their time and make it known that you and your health (mental and physical) are their priority.
If you are reading this review to determine if you should give this office a try, my advice would be to make an appointment and just meet Dr. Abbasi. The office (from the outside) is nothing fancy. The inside is basic, but clean and comfortable. The front office staff are okay, and nice for the most part. It's actually much larger than it looks once you get to the back. So, it's not fancy, but the CARE is AWESOME, and that is what you want overall. If you need a family care doctor in Covington, I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Abassi and his team. He is just outstanding.
