I was running 30 min behind due to my trains delayed problems. As soon as I stepped into the Dr. Ahmadur Rahman office I was welcomed with friendly receptionist, filled out some needed paperwork and was taking right away for the future check up. Dr. Ahmadur was very nice and taking his time. He did the physical check up and answered all of my questions. I was very pleased with my experience at Dr. Ahmadurs office. It is good to be treated with professionalism and care.

I just met Dr. Rama today for the first time and she was personable, skilled and I feel we began a real path to addressing my health concerns (can't do anything until we see the blood work though, which totally makes sense.) I look forward to working with her as my primary care physician. She really takes the time to talk and understand your concerns, doesn't rush you and that makes a huge difference. Thank you Dr. Rama and staff!

Dr. Lee is thorough and knowledgeable. I went for an annual and she was able to walk me through all of my results for my blood tests and had a pleasant demeanor throughout. Relieved to have finally found a great PCP.

The doctor was worth the wait but my appointment was at 10:30 got out at 1:20 and the receptionist looked unpleasant and her colleague didn't stop arguing wit a customer on the phone over 45 mins! Pretty annoying if you are sick!

great first visit today, great timing, wait time, less than, 35 minutes.. was seen by the Doctor himself not a nurse of nurse practitioner. he is good, sharp, does not waist time, goes to the point, and will tell you as is.. he is honest, intellectual, modest and great bedside manner.... highly recommend. He has Sunday hours, as well. they told me my insurance benefits, and deductibles up front as well, so there is no surprises later on when, i get a bill. that's how it should be.. transparent, and i know what to expect... will keep him for now, as PCP in NYC..

Jersey City Primary Care Doctors

Primary care physicians, commonly known as PCPs, are trained in providing the first point of care for people with undiagnosed health issues not limited to any one organ or specialty. They are trained in health promotion, disease prevention, counseling, patient education and management of both acute and chronic illnesses. Often, they collaborate with another specialist by way of referrals and consultations to provide care to patients. They tend to encourage effective communication with their patients to make them partners in their health management. They can either hold a doctor of medicine (MD) or doctor of osteopathic medicine (DO) degree as their medical degrees, and they usually pursue a postgraduate residency in internal medicine, family medicine, pediatrics or gynecology.

Internist vs. family physician

  • Both internists and family physicians are responsible for providing primary care to their patients, however, there are some crucial differences between these two types of doctors. Knowing this distinction can help you choose the right doctor for your healthcare needs.
  • A key differentiator between the two is the type of patients both doctors choose to see. Internists tend to focus on diseases affecting adults, while a family physician is skilled at addressing issues faced by all of your family members, including children.
  • Another difference is in the duties that both of these types of practitioners carry out. Though not a rule, generally internists tend to focus on issues having greater complexity when compared to family physicians. While internists provide in-patient care in hospital settings or their clinics, family physicians are more likely to focus on preventative care.
