I've been a patient at Eye and Health for over a decade and have always been pleased with the courtesy of the staff and the thoroughness of Dr. Dorfman and the other doctors in this practice.
It was a great experience, everyone in staff was very friendly. I was attended to right away and I felt good after leaving my appointment.
Dr. Sarantakos is knowledgeable, professional, and caring. He always answers all my questions thoroughly and patiently, always taking the time to make sure I understand.
Going to get your eyes checked is often intimidating & daunting. Dr Schafran made it easy and comfortable ??
She was very insightful and efficient, wasting no time to get into the exam. She respectfully and thoroughly answered all of my questions. Also no uncomfortable air puffs into my eyes at this place! I will be coming back for my next exam for sure.
Doctor was great but take your prescription elsewhere to avoid being overcharged for glasses and contact lenses in the store.
This was my first eye exam, and it was a seamless experience! The staff was so friendly, and I was seen 5 minutes before my appointment time (big win!). Dr Alshawkani took great care to explain the full process, and answered any questions I had. It turns out I needed my vision isn’t as great as I thought it was, and Deni (sales associate) helped my choose my frames, and wrap up my appointment. Looking forward to picking up my new glasses next week!
Dr. Tang was incredible! He was very helpful and explained every part of the exam to me, so that I would understand the health of my eyes. The office is very beautiful as well. I have never left an eye appointment so pleased with the experience.
I don’t think I’ve ever met a friendlier staff in a medical office. Everyone (including the doctor) was professional, pleasant, and laid out pricing and options clearer than I’ve ever experienced in the eyeglass / contact world. This is definitely my new optometrist.
No waiting time! Technician was quite fast but wasn’t explaining what he was going to do... Dr. Schmidt was really nice and thorough.
The doctor is a professional with reasonable suggestions and advices, although the process overall had a bit of a lack of clear communication.

Types of eye doctors
- An ophthalmologist is a medical doctor or an osteopathic physician (MD or DO) who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of eye and vision problems, including performing surgeries to improve or prevent vision-related conditions. Ophthalmologists receive extensive training in eye care; From performing eye exams and prescribing glasses to complex eye surgeries.
- An optometrist is an eye care professional, trained to detect vision defects, signs of injury and prescribe corrective lenses. They are not medical doctors (MD or DO), but they do have a Doctor of Optometry degree. Many states in the U.S. allow optometrists to perform procedures such as laser treatment, prescribe medication and administer anesthesia. Visit the American Optometric Association website to check if your optometrist is eligible to perform these additional procedures in your state.
The type of doctor you choose to visit depends on the nature of your needs. If you want to go in for a routine checkup, you can choose between an optometrist and an ophthalmologist. However, an ophthalmologist is more suited for specific vision-related problems or procedures.
